Catalyzing Investment in sustainable landscapes

The Landscape Finance Lab incubates and finances sustainable landscape development.

The Landscape Finance Lab was created with a simple insight: protecting and restoring landscapes at scale often stalls due to obstacles to cooperation of local stakeholders and lack of financing. That’s where the Lab steps in. Working in biodiversity hotspots across the globe, it convenes the people who know, love, and depend on their landscapes - from local communities and entrepreneurs to NGOs, experts, and funders. Together, they shape a shared vision built on what ecosystems need, what opportunities exist, and how regenerative economies could thrive. The result is not isolated projects, but integrated, place-based programs that build resilience and impact.

To unlock these prograes, the Lab mobilizes capital and designs innovative financial mechanisms that weave together private and philanthropic resources, such as the N+ Facility. This enables holistic investments in landscape protection and restoration at scale.

Finally, the Lab shares knowledge and lessons learned with local actors who bring landscapes to life, and with investors eager to explore new models of landscape finance. By connecting these dots, the Lab strengthens a growing global network that is redefining how people and nature flourish together.
