True appreciation helps everyone thrive

ChangeWriters fosters nurturing relationships.

Nurturing relationships matter to all of us. They are a fundamental prerequisite for successful learning. But do we actually learn how to build them - especially in diverse environments and under pressure?

In many classrooms, social background still shapes the opportunities available to young people. School should be a place of growth and flourishing, but for too many, it remains a place of withdrawal, frustration, or even perceived failure. ChangeWriters e.V. addresses this reality with a simple yet powerful message: Nurturing relationships change everything.

Since 2014, ChangeWriters has been focusing on what is often missing: true connection. Using diary methods, creative exercises, and dialogue-based prompts, they create space in everyday school life for self-reflection, active listening, and new ways of relating. Teachers learn to lead with both conviction and compassion. Young people discover that their voices matter—and that they can make a difference.

The impact is clear: fewer conflicts, increased self-efficacy, and a stronger sense of community for everyone involved. Committed educators form a growing network that is reimagining school: relationship-centered, courageous, and human.

With its “Method Coach” program, ChangeWriters now shares its experience more broadly and is convinced it can help strengthen cultures of appreciation and meaningful relationships in institutions that shape childhood and adolescence. Along this journey, alv supports ChangeWriters following a shared learning inquiry: What do we need to make visible and tangible in order to clarify the importance of successful relationships in growing up?
